MCRP
Area of Emphasis

Each MCRP student is to complete a minimum of 15 additional semester credit hours. Nine of these credit hours are in the student's area of emphasis. An area of emphasis is a concentration or major in the program that provides the student with a field of specialization. Students must also complete six credits of elective courses. Students may complete a research project or directed research as part of their electives.

1. Environmental and Natural Resource Planning and Policy
All students are required to take PUBADM 541 Environmental and Regulatory Policy and Administration and must choose two additional courses from the following classes: CE 522 Hazardous Waste Engineering; CRP 551 Sustainable Development; MHLTHSCI 510 Advanced Environmental Health; or PUBADM 540 Contemporary Issues in Natural Resource and Environmental Policy and Administration

2. Land Use and Transportation Planning
Students must take CRP 520 Introduction to Land Use and Transportation Problems and Policy and choose two additional courses from the following classes: CE 572 Transportation Planning; CE 575 Traffic Engineering; CMGT 570 Land Development; CRP (PUBADM 523) Planning and Zoning; CRP 533 Public Finance for Planners; CRP 521 Economics of Transportation Planning; CRP 540 Housing Policy and Community Development; CRP 541 Community Design and Site Planning; or CRP 551 Sustainable Development

3. Economic Development Planning and Analysis
All students are required to take CRP 530 State, Regional and Community Economic Development and choose two additional courses from the following classes: CRP 531 Public/Private and Mixed Enterprises Planning; CRP 532 Real Estate Development; CRP 533 Public Finance for Planners; or CRP 534 Downtown Revitalization;

4. Housing, Social, and Community Development Planning
Students must take CRP 540 Housing Policy and Community Development; and then choose up to six credits of course work from the following classes; CMGT 570 Land Development; CRP 523 (PUBADM 523) Planning and Zoning; CRP 533 Public Finance for Planners; CRP 532 Real Estate Development; CRP 541 Community Design and Site Planning; CRP 551 Sustainable Development; CRP 530 State, Regional and Community Economic Development; DISPUT 502 Negotiation Theory and Practice; DISPUT 503 Conflict Intervention Methods; or DISPUT 504 Facilitating Groups in Conflict
